Flaws of our educational system.
Well, it's the last college year for me and luckily I have made it through with
reasonable grades. Resultantly after all these years of academic education, I
haven't been able to deduce a single positive aspect or learning curve in terms
of character development, intellectual progression or most importantly practical
implementation of the certified curriculum (or should I say enforced). Over the
years, I have learnt that the concept of curriculum not only limits the freedom
of choice and overall opportunities for knowledge to spread out but also has
been the most significant barricade towards the act of creative and practical
learning. Never does a specific curriculum of certain subject ensure quality
grooming of those seeds that are destined to bear fruits of different tastes and
colors. Each requires a different space area of soil and proportion of water to
quench their thirst. Realistically, the complexity to each mind, exposure to the
overall market place, working of the world and the overall seeping knowledge has
granted the domain of profession choosing, a great deal of options to work with.
To think that in this era ( the one that is said to have underwent significant
modernization) still having the traditional professions of either being a doctor
or engineer, is quite outdated and out of order. Yet, since parenting has a lot
to contribute to the aspiring and developing young minds, we often come across
examples of decision enforcement in terms of opting a profession. The
traditional professions are still pointlessly regarded as ones providing a
greater good in terms of monetary safe-siding, which is often regarded as the
yardstick for respect measurement. When it comes to choosing a profession,
career counsellors should surely be consulted to attain a better vision of one's
possible compatibility rather than relying upon the trends, traditions and
practises based off irrational and pointless conceptions. Also, the fact be
taken into account that the purpose of aspiring a profession isn't just
financial extension or to improve the standard of living but mental satisfaction
and expression of interest be taken into account as well. Now back to the mass
failure of the pedagogic sector we have come across all the years, that has
hardly ever underwent any significant improvements. The domains associated with
education management and think tanks specified for the very purpose to improve
the scope of learning, have so far proven to be an epic failure. The material to
our convenience over the years have underwent significant changes yet
traditional methods of teaching have always prevailed in the overall domain, one
that prefers bookish knowledge and cramming over the fruit bearing methodology
of conceptual grooming, that has brought forth practical marvel to broaden the
scope of research and improvements in scientific fields. Quite frankly, a rote
learning conception and standardized testing serves as a limiting agent to the
imaginative and cognitive potential of a student but also, is only an assurance
to who ever makes a better watchdog or under worker to the stakeholders. A
limited set of subjects, degrees based upon traditional grading to certify
further promotion in terms of academic progression, has now become an outdated
practice. Rather than deeming grades as a yardstick to measure competency based
off standardized testing of multiple choice questions where chances being of 25%
probability to get each answer correct, be it fluke or luck, some practical way
of bringing the most out of an individual's capability be introduced. By no
means do multiple choice or everyday testing ensure practical implementation of
the theorized knowledge nor has it any role in terms of everyday usage rather it
is a pointless formality to teach individuals the act of obedience and order
following, making them believe their personal frame of mind is useless.
